Chapter 1-6

"It is a truth univerally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." I thought this was interesting in discribing the way people viewed woman as a whole and social class.

  1. Even though it's not said who this quote is by in the book I feel as though these words were from Mrs.Bennet. She makes her daughters drop down to a level of stupidity trying everything in their own will power to find a rich man, and further more thinking that rich men are only looking to get married. Mrs. Bennet seems to be just another one of the contributors to this gold digging gossipy persona portrayed by women in the book. I feel as though this book degrades women as it makes them out to be dependent and deceiving.
